1. The first Noel, the angel did say,

was to certain poor shepherds

in fields as they lay

in fields where they lay

Keeping their sheep,

On a cold winter’s night

That was so deep.

2. They looked above and saw a star

That shone in the east

Beyond them afar,

And which to earth did give a great light.

three wise men came,

from country afar

to seek for a king

4. This star drew near

to the north west,

at length over Bethlehem

And there it stayed

most reverently with bended knee

and offered there, in His presence,

both gold and myrrh

with frankincense.

Sing praises to our heavenly Lord,

that made both heaven
